Why would anyone bet against the Giants anyway? This is not the Knicks. The 2004 Yankees up 3-0. This is not the Rangers. The Islanders. The Jets. It is a bad match-up for New England, though. New York is a “spoiled” city. 2008 parade for the Giants. 2009 parade for the Yankees. Tuesday’s parade for the Giants. No parade for Iraq veterans, though. If an Iraq veteran was playing on the Giants and won, that would layer the story with some significance for people. Other than that, people are unsympathetic toward the veterans. They are unsympathetic toward the commander-in-chief who deployed them nearly nine years ago. Oh well. The public has a preference for strong men that compete in professional sports, not those killed during an imperialistic war. It is unfortunate for the warriors. Well, it is the shape of things.

This was a card at Target.
I laughed for fucking ever.
Laughs at the message of a misogynist card. Good to know who is eating up the media messages.
Relax. This is superficially witty. If intimate friends exchange a card like this, it’s funny for them. There’s familiarity between them. You are only psychologically cruel if you give this to someone who refused taking Plan B, using condoms, or the “pull out” method with its fifty percent success rate. However, in a pro-choice culture, any woman can use abortion as birth control as a last-ditch option. She is not a “whore” as the grassroots subculture to condemn slut shaming is intent on reclassification of the word “slut.” The only threat with libertinism is HIV and herpes. Be safe. Once rape culture is expunged and flagrant opportunists become self-aware, learn they are too ugly to romance sober or buzzed women, there will be no need to coerce sex from women. These men will understand how they rank among eligible sex partners or potential boyfriends for slags and regular women. The ugly rapists or good-looking predators will become suicide victims, respectful, or use escort services. So, there really are no worries. The card message is innocuous.
Perhaps this card can be perceived as misogynistic, but, the card company imagines they are being “hip” with this degree of inferior wit or sarcasm or irony. The challenge remains: Americans cannot be truly ironic because most Americans are too optimistic. True irony is a pervasive sense of dread. It is bleakness. It is an un-American position to believe things will never turn in your favor. The fallacy of Governor Daniels’s “Haves and soon-to-haves” could not exist:
It is part of the general irony of things that in life’s crises a man’s good qualities are often the ones that help him least, if indeed they do not actually turn treacherously and fight against him.
But, who does not want a baby? A family and a healthy, monogamous hetero-normative relationship? Everyone wants to have a baby! Hm. What if you are a nihilist? Or you are a humanist aware of the overpopulation dilemma. Or gay. Either way, no baby for you. In an ideal world, there would no incidents of unwanted children. Every child would reach adulthood never been raped, humiliated, or denied. If Rick Santorum expressed this kind of vision, this particular American future, it would become evident he aims to establish a scientific dictatorship where all persons are intrinsically (genetically) and actually equal from birth and in life. He would be a “super-villain” and this in particular would disqualify him from presidential eligibility. (In the real world, he is disqualified regardless.)
Those who cry wolf, who believe the broken windows policy can monitor minutia as to prevent macrocosm events of real implicit misogyny—it is only a fucking card in a shameless culture. You need to expect things like this. Stopping lame cards like this will have fools believe you are assailing first amendment rights. Parse through the bullshit, select the necessary battles.(via skyliting)

“You can’t excape from what you are.” - Vincent Cassel.
People should become slightly more profound and accurate, less boastful of real and contrived classifications: “You cannot escape from who you are.” What are you exactly? Who are you exactly? How were you raised? What have you learned? Is what you have learned substantive? If so, was it retained and how can it be applied for your benefit? Do develop rapport with others without jealousy? Are you vindictive? Hm. Are you lucky in life or miserable in life? These questions will bring us closer to learning what and who you claim to be and how you will be perceived by anyone who is sympathetic to this kind of bullshit.

and it’s no accident that this segment is conveniently left out of our education
The white-washing of MLK jr. and the civil rights movement on a whole to make history look kindly upon white folk and convince POC of the disempowering lie that is “Be polite, nice, & don’t challenge us & you’ll get your rights” is one that disgusts me to no end.
^^^ THIS!
I’ve never seen this speech, I hate the fact that my learning of MLK was sugarcoated to appease white people. This man was strong and moving, he deserved more than a few “Leader of civil rights movement,I have a dream speech”. This is the definition of a true leader and man!
This is magnificent. This GIF is only enhanced with examination of the motif light versus dark / good versus evil, which is prevalent in allegorical myths of all world cultures. Yet, when the light versus dark central idea is applied to people—when Europeans are seen to embody goodness, power, and righteousness and Africans the opposite—this is the inexhaustible source of implicit and explicit racism, the treatment based on the institutionalised categories and specifications the world knows; the partiality and the prejudices.

With Selma and the Voting Rights Act one phase of development in the civil rights revolution came to an end. A new phase opened, but few observers realized it or were prepared for its implications. For the vast majority of white Americans, the past decade—the first phase—had been a struggle to treat the Negro with a degree of decency, not of equality. White America was ready to demand that the Negro should be spared the lash of brutality and coarse degradation, but it had never been truly committed to helping him out of poverty, exploitation or all forms of discrimination. The outraged white citizen had been sincere when he snatched the whips from the Southern sheriffs and forbade them more cruelties. But when this was to a degree accomplished, the emotions that had momentarily inflamed him melted away.

Friday’s affirmation.
Oh. This is cute. But, people know full well a nerd is a high-GPA, scholastic type of person sometimes slandered by envious lazy-minded people as an overachiever, and a geek is someone who is “academic” or “studious” about a fandom or subculture or whatever they fancy. (Of course, with intellect there are many variables to consider; what people know, how it is retained and when it is best applied, critical thinking, etc. It is untenable to say a geek with poor grades is a retard. Obviously the “geek” is distracted by bullshit—Doctor Who, Star Wars, comics, whatever. This distraction could be a form of escape. There are so many factors to consider it is uncompassionate to say If you want to escape, do well in your classes and graduate early. What the fuck wrong with you?) If someone “likes things”, or some thing in particular, they’d have to be an aficionado. But, people are so flexible nowadays they resent any neat classification even though they know precisely how they classify themselves. But, yeah. This is cute. Don’t say it to an assembly of ninth-graders, it’s lame as fuck, but it’s still nice. So nice it gets a reblog!

buying my first pack of cigarettes :’-)
Cigarettes don’t ruin figures like this do they? Are you one of those ‘post-feminist’ women who don’t like blatant compliments because it’s objectification, but prefer compliments if you expect a compliment because you deserve the compliment? Or is any compliment sexist because as a woman you are ‘a person’, so you should be judged by the content of your character and not the shape of your ass or the perceived sexiness of your face? Or is the shape of your ass no one else’s concern and even if they want to compliment they should keep it private? Are you this kind of woman? Doesn’t matter how you classify yourself or whatever ideology you’ve adopted to classify yourself. Nice ass.
